Who We Are
Rosemount Center provides early childhood education and family support services to pregnant women, infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children and their families in its center-based and home-based programs. Since 1972, Rosemount has served residents primarily from the District of Columbia. Focused on helping DC’s neediest residents, Rosemount received its first Head Start grant in 1986 and its first Early Head Start grant in 1996.
The Infant/Toddler Program serves pregnant women, infants and toddlers (ages 6 weeks to 3 years) and the Preschool Program serves older children (ages 3 to 5 years). Enrollment options include full tuition, local government subsidized, and federally funded opportunities.
All Rosemount Center programs offer and coordinate a range of comprehensive services including:
- Dual language curriculum (English/Spanish)
- An education plan for each child
- Quarterly progress reports
- Weekly thematic lesson plans
- Immunization assistance
- Medical referrals
- Nutrition services
- Social services
- Developmental, hearing, vision, and dental screenings
- Developmental disabilities inclusion program (students with special needs are included in all facets of our program)
- Collaboration with DC Early Intervention and DCPS Early Stages programs regarding students with special needs
- Monthly parent meetings, trainings, and family socializations
- English as a second language (ESL) classes
- Home visits
- Family partnership agreements, parent/teacher conferences, and parent governance opportunities through the Policy Council

Celebrating 50 Years of Service
Rosemount Center has offered dual language early childhood education and support services to children and families since 1972. During that time, in both its center-based and its home-based programs, Rosemount has impacted countless individuals living at or just above poverty in the District of Columbia. Rosemount has helped thousands of children ages 0-5 and their families by:
- providing them with warm and nurturing care
- preparing them for kindergarten and beyond
- aiding at-risk pregnant women with prenatal and postnatal care
- providing families with parenting, English language skills, and life training skills

Accolades and Assessments
Rosemount has received national recognition as has been featured in various training tools and materials produced by the Office of Head Start.
Since 1992, Rosemount Center has been accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and is recognized as a Gold-Level Center by the District of Columbia Division of Early Learning in the Office of the State Superintendent of Education.
From 2007-2010, the Monitoring and Assessing Rosemount Services (MAARS) evaluation was conducted at Rosemount. The MAARS evaluation of Rosemount program identified positive long-term impacts on both child and family development. To learn more, read the MAARS Assessment.
